Last weekend, I visited my mother. I talk quite openly with her about my views, even though she sees many things differently and is very influenced by mainstream opinion.

However, there is one topic that is off limits—Germany's past and the many questions you could ask about it. Unfortunately, this is my hobbyhorse. My mother has a 96-year-old neighbor who is still very fit. I had expressed my desire to talk to him as a real eyewitness. My mother naturally wanted to know why. That was the moment of conflict. I felt totally isolated and almost bit my tongue, because if I had revealed my true motivation, there would have been a big drama. I felt desperate because I couldn't discuss this topic, which was so important to me, with her.

The next day, I had to work and was distracted, so I drove home in the evening. Relaxed on the sofa, I felt the painful blisters on the front right tip of my tongue (I am left-handed, so the right side is my mother-child side). And after thinking about it for a moment, the connections became clear to me. Great, I thought – it can be that simple.

The ectodermal top layer of the tongue often reacts when something is on your mind but you are not allowed to say it.
Perhaps you felt like you didn't have enough “tongue sensitivity” to express your concern delicately enough without arousing suspicion (equivalent to the sensitivity required for delicate work), which is why the adjustments may have been localized at the tip of your tongue.
